Eric C. Haught
About
Eric C. Haught joined the Fitzsimmons Law Firm in July 2024 and concentrates his legal practice on civil litigation. Eric also contributes to the Firm’s work by assisting with legal briefing, discovery, motion practice, and case strategies.
Prior to joining the Firm, Eric served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable John Preston Bailey sitting in the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia. There, Eric coordinated case management for a variety of litigation types, including class action suits, personal injury and wrongful death suits, premises liability cases, and federal criminal actions. In addition, Eric conducted extensive legal briefing on cases filed in the District Court and drafted memoranda and proposed orders, particularly in matters involving insurance bad faith and insurance coverage disputes.
Before his federal clerkship, Eric worked as an associate at a regional civil defense firm specializing in insurance civil defense litigation. Eric also served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Robert A. Irons in the Thirty-First Judicial Circuit of West Virginia.
Eric received a Juris Doctor degree from West Virginia University College of Law in 2017, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from West Virginia University, where he graduated cum laude in 2013. He is admitted to practice law in the State of West Virginia, the United States Districts Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Eric is a member of the West Virginia State Bar and the Ohio County Bar Association, where he currently serves as Secretary.
Eric is a native of New Martinsville, West Virginia, and he resides in Warwood, West Virginia with his wife, Lydia, and their four cats. Out of the office, you can find Eric enjoying the outdoors, fly fishing, skiing, and gardening.
