One of the most dangerous maneuvers on the roadway is a left-hand turn across traffic. This vehicular action can actually occur when there is oncoming traffic thereby requiring that it be undertaken only when the turning vehicle can safely pass the oncoming vehicles. Our laws recognize the inherent danger in making a left-hand turn. Whenever you're on the roadway and need to make a left-hand turn, please stop for a few seconds and make sure that you can safely drive your car across the oncoming lanes and also make sure that there's no vehicular traffic exiting the road on which you intend to turn. A few seconds of proper observation could mean the difference between life and death. Operating a motor vehicle is a great convenience and privilege and a necessity to many people. Nonetheless, we need to respect all of the roadway rules for our own protection and for the protection of our neighbors.
